At HireRight I initially encountered an industry that marketed to human resources and other "people-oriented" audiences, but marketed by communicating the capabilities of vendors rather than solving the challenges of potential customers. This created an opportunity for HireRight to exert thought leadership and change its focus to customers. One of the most effective methods for driving this was my creation of the HireRight Employment Screening Benchmarking Reports. This involved surveying thousands of organizations worldwide, confidentially analyzing responses to reveal standard practices, and publishing select results in reports filled with hundreds of metrics. Today, these HireRight benchmarking reports serve as the most authoritative source of industry benchmarks and is often quoted by industry analysts, the media, and others.
